Flow Final

Last updated 7 months ago

A Flow Final in an Activity Diagram represents the termination of a specific flow within the activity. Unlike an Activity Final, which ends the entire activity, a Flow Final only terminates the particular flow it's attached to, allowing other flows in the activity to continue.

With Flow Finals in Modeldraw's Activity Diagram, you can:

  • Indicate the end of a specific path or flow within your activity

  • Show that a particular sequence of actions has completed without ending the entire process

  • Represent scenarios where part of a process concludes while others continue

  • Model complex workflows with multiple potential endpoints for different paths

  • Differentiate between the completion of a flow and the termination of the entire activity

Understanding Flow Final

A Flow Final in Modeldraw's Activity Diagram tool is typically represented by an 'X' inside a circle. Key points to understand about Flow Finals include:

  • It ends only the flow it's attached to, not the entire activity.

  • An Activity Diagram can have multiple Flow Finals.

  • Other parallel flows in the activity continue unaffected.

  • A Flow Final cannot have any outgoing flows.

  • Unlike an Activity Final, it doesn't terminate the entire activity.

  • Particularly useful in activities with parallel processing or multiple outcomes.
